Vampires are dependant on blood. They do not eat or drink anything else. (There is a little room for debate here. Since anything ingested goes straight into the blood stream, it may be possible for vampires to drink things that would normally be found in the blood, i.e., water and alcohol.)
The 'need' for blood has two sides. First, every vampire requires a certain amount of blood, but, as a vampire ages, this need becomes less. But, the lust will always remain. Some of the oldest vampires do not need to feed as often for physical reasons, but need to fulfill the craving.
Young vampires must feed often, at least once a night.
