Sunlight

Only fire and sunlight can kill a vampire. They can even endure a certain amount of exposure to both of these. Given enough time and blood, they will recover from pretty much anything.

Death from sunlight depends on age. The older the vampire, the more resistant they become, thus, the longer they must remain in the sun to die. Only they very, very old and strong can survive an entire day in the sun. If caught out when the sun rises, a vampire will subconsciously try save themselves, even if the situation was a suicide attempt.

No vampire can be exposed to the sun without being burned (or in the extremely rare cases, simply uncomfortable. This, however, requires the vampire to be an enormous age. They will still slip into unconsciousness at sunrise, however. This is considered a 'god' quality in RPs and is not allowed.)

If a vampire is burned by the sun and survives, only a lot of time can heal them. Blood of another vampire will speed the process along. Doubly so with the blood of an Ancient.

Fire

If the ashes are not scattered after a vampire is burned, it is still possible for them to come back to life.

Mutilation

If a body part is removed, the vampire's body will simply re-heal itself when the part is replaced, whether the replacement is the vampire's original part, or one taken from a mortal. If taken from a mortal, the part will not be quite as good as the original and may have to be replaced again.

On that note, if a vampires head is severed, they may appear dead, but it is still possible to reattach thier head. A vampire will probably be disabled during that time, but they -can- recover.

Also, if a vampire's head is severed and a -different- head is replaced, it may or may not work. (See references to this in Memnoch the Devil (I think that's the one... someone correct me)) In this case, the head is the embodiment of the vampire. To explain it better, if vampire A loses a head and gains vampire B's head, the body now belongs to vampire B, not vampire A.

Feeding and Bleeding

Not feeding will weaken a vampire, but the extent is determined by age and strength. Massive bleeding has the same effect.

Vampires bleed quickly. A small cut could bleed profusely before the flesh healed itself. This is of small consequence, however, since a vampire can loose a lot of blood before feeling the effects.

Illness

Vampires do not become sick. They enjoy perfect health their entire 'life'.

If a vampire survives any sort of attack, they will become stronger as a result.
