Do you want to Chat Role Play, but you really don't have experience in it? Or you're not sure how we do it? Well, here are the guidelines.

Chat Role Play is similar to Forum Role Play. It's just in real time, as opposed to waiting hours or even days for a post. You still get to chose your own character and do with him/her as you like. There will still be a set plot and rules to follow, but once again, don't let that stop you from being creative.

For Chat Role Playing, you don't really have to worry so much about paragraphing and the such. However, some of the same rules for Forum Role Playing apply to Chat Role Playing. And here they are.

There is one majour difference between Chat Role Playing and Forum Role Playing. And that is the fact that you're going to be RPing in present tense, and sometimes third person.

Ex:
*George walks down the street towards Fred.

If you're going to speak on the same line that you do an action, include quotation marks.

Ex:
*George walks down the street towards Fred. "Hey Fred, how are you?"

And if you wish to say something that is out of character (OOC), please include it in parenthesis.

Ex:
*George has joined #brave-ireland
[Fred] (Hey George!)

Chat style abbreviations are not allowed.

Ex:
“How are you today?”
NOT “How r u 2day?"

Anything your character thinks, make it in < >'s.

Ex:
[George] <Hm, I wonder if he thinks I'm really going to be his friend.>

We aren't as picky on spelling and the such in Chat Role Playing. As long as we know what you mean, you're fine.

Line length? Well, it doesn't really matter. It's no where near as long as post on the forums. Just enough to express your character and the such.


And here’s a little review:

There will be a set plot and rules, but otherwise you’re free to do as you wish with some limitations
Still try to use proper grammar and puncuation
Use quotation marks
No chat abbreviations
Thoughts are in < >'s
Keep Point of view and tense the same (Present tense)
Line length isn't a big thing

* Killian sees another vampire on the beach and approaches
* Nyona is in her two piece and a pair of shorts and flip flops
* Killian considers whether he should be friendly, or if she looks tasty
* Nyona wades into the oncoming tide
[Killian] (more like... Los Angelos, maybe?)
[Killian] you certainly go to a lot of effort just to get wet
* Killian wades into the water, dressed
* Nyona spins around in surprise
* Killian grins at her
[Nyona] who are you?
[Killian] Killian
[Killian] who are you?
* Killian eyes her curiously
[Nyona] I’m ...Nyona
